And while old school is good, the era kind of advanced past that now. Female heroes don't wear that anymore. Somehow they always wear breast armor plate, and light armors these days.

Someone tell Sendai that AuClou-sensei is after her dress.

All it would take to get Sendai to agree is "Night Battle".

Considering the last page, it's likely more that Japanese fantasy (at least in the minds of doujin authors) cannot escape the orbit of DragonQuest.

It's really hard to overstate the impact that DQ has on Japanese gaming, what with it practically inventing the entire genre of JRPG (or at least codifying it.) You can use things from DQ as shorthand for RPG/fantasy topics with basically 0 context and you can expect people to know what you mean.

This may be less true with the youth of today, of course.

Those shoulder pads just do not work.
