What purpose could that massive bridge serve in connecting those two castles? And would that justify the idiocy of constructing a stone bridge spanning what looks like a fairly recent, and active, fault line. if you look at where the bridge ended, it seems like it serves as freeway to access a certain part of the castle.

- these 2 castles probably a frontline barricade near enemy territory. that huge bridge can served as stationed long range units to spread the whole team along the bridge to make heavy projectiles rain
