I thought the name was silly at first but then I realized that there are probably loads of places in the US simply called "Chinese Food" or something along that vein.

Not quite, actually. Advertising is everything over here, so if yu don't at least have a unique name (if not terribly original or creative), yu're not gonna make money.

Nobody here is gonna go into a shop named Shop. Not even out of curiosity.

Actually, it's more that every East Asian food joint over here has some variation of "best"/"one"/"gold" in the name.
