A respectable start for the series. I'm a little hesitant about how they're getting right into the action. Seems like the adventure aspect of the series will be on hold for a little while.
I understand that human world stakes are likely to be perceived as more dramatic than digital world. But part of the charm was that the silly no stakes nature of the series enabled conflict to happen without it always being a slog.
For example, if I recall correctly, Gabumon got his ultimate form by fighting a shady egg-shaped Digimon who conned several of the other Digi-destined into indentured servitude. It's a silly premise, but actually fairly profound how he took advantage of and attempted to corrupt them. A being doesn't have to cause a disaster to be evil.
