This is a 8-bit (256 colors) gradient if I recall correctly. Also one of the reasons Star Platinum is my favorite hanafuda game ever. Unfortunately I can't look it up without it being buried between piles of Jojo references.
I find more impressive the artist is still active after 25 years.
