@finalagent: Indeed, Kafuka seems better at helping Itoshiki-sensei become an hero than preventing it like she seemingly wants to, thus the "red future" dajare (among others) in her purported real name. And I'm not sure but perhaps Kanako's open-mindedness could be likened to a blank canvas? If so, I sure wonder what that crazy class is painting on it e.e;
"Open Minded" is not quite right. What it means is that she is easy-going. She lets political parties and cults put their posters on her wall, doesn't care that her sleeves are too long or that her skirt is unzipped, she pretty much just goes with whatever. She walks into the classroom after the other girls murder Nozomu and just sits down next to his body, oblivious or just not caring. A fearful apathy. I think she makes a pretty good addition to the cast :)
