It's a handful of dumbasses. Outrage merchants are making this a bigger controversy than it really is. This thing made me extra furious because I've had a few shortstacks in my life but I can't pretend it's some vast moral crusade when it's just a handful of fuckheads who apparently come from Giant Town or some shit and have never seen a short woman before.
It's so bizarre to see western artists saying they are "fixing" her design by making it bad.
Western artists literally have no respect. Redrawing a character is one thing, but more than a few of the ones doing it say they're "fixing" it while calling the original trash and some even outright insulting the creator.
Man, all this shit is hilarious but the biggest shame is that none of them seem to have ever heard of a certain anime known as Eiken.
Ah, the good old days. When you can make a joke and people will actually laugh at it for ITS stupidity instead of the stupidity generated by attention seeking dumbfucks that spews out nothing but unsubstantial garbage. It’s a shame humor is becoming a lost art.
Reminds me of the Shimoneta world, where everyone is just being boring stick in the mud fucktards, except without all the funniness. Well, no that’s not true. It is hilarious to watch all this bullshit unload and all the drama that pour out from it.
Heh, normies. Good thing Poplar was safe from mainstream, well unless they got streamed on Netflix.
Oh shit! Yeah, I forgot Taneshima_Popura was the oppai loli. Phew, lucky girl she dodged a bullet on this one, especially since she was about as Sugoi Dekai as Uzaki herself and adorbs as heck.
Also, was pretty sure the entire series of Wagnaria was on netflix, plus dub.

I mean, I wouldn't call it "making it bad" some of the redraws are fairly nice, but yeah the whole "fixing" thing is pretty cringe any time it happens, they're basically shitting on another artist's style/character design for no reason.
This is more a deja-vu kind of situation, is like most of these "I fixed this problematic character" chart that appears from time to time, when one of these artist works on "Fixing" a superhero design, you could feel a thin degree of contempt towards the fans of that work, with Uzaki the "thin" is gone and is pure contempt.
On the other hand, is sad that people with technical skills to grab a pencil and draw something coherent spent their time being this butthurt, but is damn sad living following the trends of the bluemarks in twitter, instead of using their own criterion before typing something for E-praising.
Wow. I knew about the character for a while but it never crossed my mind such a thing would happen. Short girls with big breasts is nothing I have not seen before. Uzaki isn't the first and likely won't be the last.
At the same time, I'm not surprised. I mean, with how things are in the west nowadays...

the word erased from most peoples vocabulary is "petit". and at 5ft fek all, "petit" is very much the word to describe uzaki.
but you wont hear the marxist moral-fash admit words exist or have meaning, if it gets in the way of their ideology.
Well, I was talking about Taneshima Popura, but yes Uzaki-chan isn't a loli either, armchair activists will gladly refer to anyone under 6ft as a loli so they can accuse people who don't agree with them of being pedophiles.

"Petite" is the same as "loli" that's still short but also adult-sized. If you can't fit your tits in a pair of milk jugs, you aren't even in the parking lot of the ballpark that is "petite." But definitions of words get in the way of agendas, right?
My only real thought is that this is a terrific boost for the author since this is free publicity they can use.

For me petite means someone is just short but is otherwise adult-proportioned, loli is a literal child.

Yeah, I've heard all the controversy managed to actually do was bring more people's attention to the show, increasing its overall popularity despite all the vitriol. The show by itself is nothing special, most people hadn't even heard of it before the blood drive incident.

I think you need to look up the definition of lolita before spouting you nonsense.
Loli is short for lolita, which is an underaged girl. The word you need to be using is petite, which means small.
Loli as it relates to anime refers to a character with a childlike body. Age is irrelevant because the body type has been given to legal age characters so frequently that it's become an overused trope in anime in manga. Loli and petite aren't really interchangeable, and loli is definitely the word I was intending to use in my comment, not petite.
I wonder if its her younger/child like face that bothers some people with her height.
Yes, but that's anime artstyle in general these days ("these days" basically meaning "in my lifetime", granted). Its literally the entire basis of moe, why anime girls eyes have been getting bigger since the '80s and '90s. Hell, half of Miyazaki's appeal and why he's so distinctive and respected is his deliberate avoidance of sexualized or romanticized infantilization of female characters, and that doesn't become worthy of note unless its more the exception than the rule.

Which would still be a retarded reason cause most Asians do not age(makes it very difficult to do adult stuff like buy beer without an I.D) like westerners and women keep a young face up until around their late 40s-50s(usually if they don’t have kids) You don’t magically grow an ugly ass tumblr face and nose the moment you hit college and for most Asians, gaining weight is much more difficult. I think people tend to forget that in anime, the characters are specifically Asian and that all their dumbass realistic expectation makes little to no sense and all these Anime are not catering to the western crowd at all. Most of the anime we see we take from Japan, without them knowing or hoping to care about what we think since westerners are not their main target.

What a bunch of nonsense. Miyazaki doesn’t sexualize any female character on purpose but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any sexualization of any sort in his film. And an overtly amount at that.
Look, I respect and love Miyazaki’s film as much as the next person and I still do. I will gladly admit that when I was young I dreamt of being able to watch his films(due to being poor and couldn’t afford to go to the movies) and that seeing his films for the first time was one of the greatest moment of my life that I openly wept in joy, but don’t let such silliness cloud your judgement and place them on a pedestal of no faults or that it is any special or different from other Japanese animations.
If Miyazaki was to produce the films today, do you know how many people would be up in arms? Spirited Away would never, ever, ever be allowed to be shown to kids and he would be heavily criticized for being a preachy treehugger or some Japanese nationalists. Infact, I think he was criticized heavily for those these even back then when his films were released.
In Spirited Away, the entire setting is literally a bath house. You see multiple scenes of Chihiro in a less than subtle clothings multiple time, there were strangely creepy moments with the Kaonashi, and, might I remind you, Haku was technically an animal/beast. Even when I was an innocent(as much) kid back then, I could see the signs and where it was going for.
In Mononoke Hime there were a scene of Ashitaka going around with only his under garment for nothing more than fan service. And there are many, many more other moments in his other films. Ponyo, the guy literally fucked the sea (okay, I apologize. I’m just grasping here.)
Granted, many of this might just be a perception but how is it any different from how people are overreacting to the little things in nowadays anime, focusing on the idiotic parts but not the actual overarching and important aspects, and just being plain stupid.
Who's mad retard? You guys can't even can't take criticism you guys are just mad that everything isn't sexualized to cater to the japan pedo base all of you are fucking retarded for not seeing the dumb shit in this anime also the artists name is beta because the people who think this shit are beta and better to have morals than be a Degenerate
