Put some trained dogs in there and they'll do the work for you. Just make sure the skeles fall onto a fencepost in a one block tall collection chamber otherwise they will eventually kill your pups.

You can't get experience points (the glowing green balls) from a dying enemy unless you are the one that struck the killing blow. This normally takes resources such as tool durability and energy to accomplish but because dogs don't need energy or tools they can be used to collect XP without using any resources.
