    Took me a bit to hunt down the correct meaning of the "GP" in the shopping list. I have no idea if there's a more common name for it as a food ingredient. Certainly, I don't recall ever seeing "glycoprotein" in any English-language recipes.

    The only reader-added tag so far is "Cake-making chapter".

    Thanks, though I suspect GP may still be different. Otherwise, I'd have expected the list to have ゼラチン or ジェラチン instead. Maybe it's a type of fruit pectin...?

    I can only think it means "Gelatin Powder" as opposed to sheet gelatin. I can find almost no reference to glycoprotein in any form being used for culinary reasons, and as far as I can tell can't be commercially purchased. But in a roll cake gelatin can be used to help the cream thicken and not melt.

    Either that or it is some kind of brand of pectin that they plan to use to make a jam out of the strawberries, but I'd still suspect Gelatin.

    Edit: Or eggs, yeah, eggs would be the missing ingredient here.

    I think the GP is "gelatin powder", to firm up the whipped cream used in the roll cake, so it'll hold its shape instead of oozing out.

    That sounds reasonable, thanks. I tried looking up "GP" in conjunction with 料理 (cooking), and the only useful result I got was that it was synonym for 糖タンパク質 (glycoprotein).
