There's a lot of sketchy parts in the english localization (as is often the case). Maybe some of the nuance slipped through?
Something like wide hips, instead of being a jab at her being fat. Or that she *was* fat as a child in the past (I vaguely recall Cloud Retainer making mention of this during Ganyu's character story), but not so much now, though it left her self-conscious about it.

There's another explanation, really: she haven't learned the human transformation technique during the war and thus choked the beast with the waistline of her qilin's form, which is more believeable.
