You never found it odd that not only does Link look really like a Kokiri but that his mother was find the Great Deku Tree hidden deep in the Lost Woods? Do you also think that the Kokiri drop dead the moment they leave the forst?
Kokiri, to me, just look like regular children with green clothing. If I wear to think about it, Link also is the only one shown from Kokiri Forest to age, and also the only one who didn't have a fairy til the story starts. So I'd personally stick to him being Hylian.
