One went through her dream world before killing herself and the other went through hers after.
Also, is this meant to imply that Madotsuki ends up in Hell? That's harsh; unlike Natsumi, there's no indication that Madotsuki even comes close to deserving that fate. For one thing, everything Madotsuki did was only in her mind, while Natsumi actually killed her ex.

And how you know? There are several theories about why Madotsuki was hikkikomori/depressed, and one of then is that she actually murdered someone. That would be the reason the knife was in the dark world.

A fair point, though I personally hadn't heard that theory before. So much of her story/background is wide open to interpretation, though, that it does make sense.
