What's she doing with her hands?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is "eight" with one hand. Similar to how you would count from 1 to 10 using two hands, but with one.

Attempted description:
Open hand -> close from thumb to pinky = 1 to 5
Closed hand (ie:fist) -> open from pinky to thumb = 6 to 10

I knew about 1-5, I'd never heard about 6-10 though.

Just to add, that is what I think because I have a Japanese relative who I've seen count that way.
