I can think of two possibilities, with low confidence:
ink that turns white or transparent on exposure to heat.
specially produced or treated charcoal and paper such that the charcoal does not penetrate the paper fiber and the paper is resistant to burning. This seems farfetched to me though, and doesn't explain the yellow-green or pink.
