I made that same mistake until Lucky Star enlightened me (and then forgot again; there's an image around here somewhere from about a year ago with couple of us trying to figure out why a girl's painting a floor before someone reminded us); it's a lint roller such as westerners tend to use to remove pet hair from clothes.
