The implication is that Miku was thrown away because Luka is the new model, and Miku became obsolete/unwanted.

... That said, it's no reason to hate Luka... Miku replaced Kaito and Meiko, didn't she? Eventually, Luka will share the same fate, too.

There's something similar in this Soul-Crushingly Depressing pool with Windows ME being deleted. I guess the moral of the story is to never throw anything away if it could possibly be anthropromorphically personified.

This picture isn't very realistic, I think. I love Luka so it wouldn't matter for me anyway. But Miku is STILL the most popular Vocaloid... with various vocaloids being released after her.

Yeah, Miku replaced Meiko and Kaito, but in that time nobody knew about them. Vocaloid start being popular after Miku was released, and that's why she will always be the most popular. Just look at the Vocaloid Weekly Ranking. And I'm not a Miku fan...

If it was because Windows ME was being replaced with Windows XP, than I would’ve just had it be that the OS personification was undergoing a Pokémon-style evolution.

Aside from that, who’s taking this Miku home and fixing her up? I know I would but I lack the mechanical skills needed for her repairs.
