But all the PS controllers past 2 still have a connector to plug a wire to charge. And alot of people just play it with it connect the system at all times(cause some of us game for longer than 8 hours). Or he could just be charging his controller anyway.

Not quite. There's also a triangular light bar on the top of the controller, which would be clearly visible from this angle. It's definitely not a PS4 controller. Maybe it could be PS3, though?
