The two metallic rings on the bottom of this picture makes me think that they are on top of the death star. I can only imagine Gurren Lagann fusing with something like that...

I do believe there is a fic out there exploring that very concept, though it hasn't gotten very far...if you ask me though, this is the last thing we see before the spiral nemesis.
