If it were to stick to the manga then it would only need to have to be animated until end of the Emerald story arc. The current Diamond and Pearl arc is so disappointing when you compare it to the sheer amounts of epic that were the previous arcs.
For some reason I always imagined Hayashibara Megumi as the voice of Blue and Horie Yui as Yellow.

Nuh-uh,just because the author has inserted a few new things with Diamond/Pearl/Platinium doesn't mean the quality has decreased.The Emerarld arc was kinda boring at the beginning but then when Ruby and Sapphire arrived the plot went faster and got better.If you got that far with the manga then you should already know that every arc had a similar pattern:Introduces main characters,we see them doing random things along with other characters,enter the baddies,doing more stuff,things get serious,epic shit happens.Also,if you read all the chapters online,then there will be an obvious change of the pace,since they update as long a new chapters comes in.
