She isn't actually boiling potions like real witches, but doing it to diligently record and observe research results. She has collected all sorts of herbs and ingredients to make them into liquid chemicals to be experimented with in test tubes, and read and annotated many books (what she calls grimoires), which is actually a relatively advanced way of doing research. Notes are pinned on the walls, which are all about danmaku trajectories and bullet shapes, part of a search for elegant yet powerful danmaku. "It ain't magic if it ain't flashy. The Kirisame Magic Shop has many collected items, which are messy and not cleaned up often. There are cobwebs in corners, outside of the windows is overgrown vegetation, and moss and mushrooms grow in the corners of the room too. The bottom right corner is stacked with modern items, probably taken from Kourindou.
