    The act of racing horses? No. Modern horse racing? 100% Yes. The first modern race (St. Leger) was in 1776 in England, and while there certainly were forms of horse racing previously (Of particular note was the very highly-developed Roman chariot circuit), she's talking about the modern form as we know it today.
