I don't think there is a 'canon' ending, Age of Stars is the most common but that's a bit odd. I've seen theories that each ending could be the origin of a different From Software series.
Should have use Miquella's Needle before meeting Melina again.

i mean its my understanding that the needles of unalloyed gold dont... CURE you but simply interfere with the control of outer gods. in other words so long as the needle stays in you and your corruption hasnt been allowed to spread through you enough, you can halt the progression of it. its because of this that for better or worse one day you will likely find the needle wont be able to save you for one reason or another whether its you having lost it or it perhaps just doesnt FULLY negate outer gods control with if i aint mistaken, miquella was literally trying to find a way to permanently stop outer gods influence soooo no matter what you have to die to melinas hands one day for better or worse...
