I'm pretty sure that's an Ultra Ball. Besides that, you earn a lot of money as an accomplished trainer. He could've easily purchased the fridge himself.

yeah, just beating up the first challenge that challenges you on the way to your first badge already earn you about 1k pokes. In fact, just by beatin up other people's pokemon is probably one of the most easiest way to get rich.

I also won't be surprise if this was a secret base or something.
