I hate to say this, but that's an anatomical hand. It's just not shaded clearly on the left side and is missing a fingernail. The pose is extremely expressive, but the angle is unfortunate.

You should probably take a look at your own hand, there's nothing wrong with her thumb.
Dude now that I look at it, it's not even her thumb but rather her pinky, I at least don't know anyone who can distance their pinky from other fingers as if it was a thumb...
edit: funny how I'm getting downvotes due to "anatomical" aspect, when her knuckle which connect the fingers 2 is towards an angle and another 2 is towards another angle even when they are from the same hand, I didn't know I was on a alien planet where peoples hands can bend/stretch their knuckles in a circular/oval shape to the point 2 of them can come from a side and the other 2 come from the other.
