    Lady Merle, and some lore about her

    Merle once joined the Siege of Tournai. But she didn't want to repeatedly witness people drawn into conflicts of the nobility and wished to find a neutral position that would allow her to help people without getting involved into the wars. Eventually, she joined Ordo Mediare.

    The Siege of Tournai took place in July-September 1340. The Black Death harrowed France in 1347-1351, decimating the population of France by around 50%, after which a period of civil unrest, local wars and turmoils followed. This fits the lore of the Ordo Mediare perfectly, dating them to the mid-or late 1350'ies.
