it's easier for gameplay. short hair = not as much work needed for hair movement. with ghosts with long hair, it's different, considering they can only go so far (since they usually are only in one specific area) and they have the same kind of movement all the time. with main characters, it's hard to have to animate longer hair and make it look relatively real with all the movement that they do. when they do have long hair in games, it's usually in a pony tail (or something). either that, or stick with the block hair and have it look bland.
