Not really. It absorbs well, but you would pass out long time before it could do any serious harm. The main danger is somewhere else - it goes directly to the blood with *everything* that's in it. That means all the additives etc. Sake should be fine, though.

Actually that's incorrect, The danger is in passing out, because, unlike drinking alcohol, when you pass out your body doesn't stop absorbing alcohol. 1 way trip to your death bed as you can't stomach pump/Activated charcoal your way out of this alchy poisoning.

People are doing this as a clyster, trying to "hold it in". As soon as you pass out (or just get too drunk to handle it), the rectum relaxes and the liquid is forced out.
If you plugged it, *that* could be dangerous.
Also, the body doesn't stop absorbing alcohol through the alimentary tract just from passing out, you can't exactly "turn off" the process. That's what vomiting is for.

It can kill you under the right circumstances just like drinking it can. The point is, alcohol is poison. You take a risk every time you ingest it. What I find funny it it is known to be a poison with deadly potential and yet so is bleach and no body drinks that.

bleach doesn't smell as good as alcohol, and generally we can filter it out easier, plus bleach sometimes has heavy metals in it...

Brotip: bleach doesn't make everything awesome all the time until you're sober again. Never has anyone drank enough bleach to come up with beer pong and race shopping carts down hills while yodelling. Bleach just sucks.

It's not an urban legend. Theobromine can even poison humans in large enough amounts, particularly the elderly. A tablespoon wouldn't be enough to even affect a large dog's digestion, but feed a good-sized chocolate bar to a small breed and watch it void itself before dying of a heart attack or seizure.
