They didn't. Joseph and Johnathan have very similar outfits, but Dio is specifically in an outfit from the cover of... Vol. 3, I think? Either way, it's Phantom Blood.

Dio has a very, very slim chance of winning. If he can stop time and then use his freezing trick on Cars, he might survive. Of course, considering what Cars does to vampires, this is highly unlikely.
