Apparently, Xtwitter people think this Japanese McDonalds commercial is a "nuclear family propaganda" of the government w/c insults gen Z because they don't want to have a family... for some reason.

Traditional family. Happy family. Something Japan is in dire need in the face of fallbof birth rates.

Back around... 2012 (?) or so, it became a meme on the anime-related imageboards that whenever you saw a scene depicting characters getting married and having kids, and you felt a pang of loneliness or envy as a single person, it was Shinzo Abe's fault. The (humorously paranoid-cope) logic being that Abe must have given subsidies or kickbacks or something to the anime industry for depictions of happy marriages in order to increase Japan's birth rate. I specifically remember a lot of Abe-posting in danna ga nani wo itte iru ka wakaranai ken threads.

He spent years pushing a domestic policy engineered to reverse Japan's declining birthrate. That's an indelible part of his legacy. People aren't going to magically forget it just because he died.

Fair enough, perhaps I was speaking short sighted there.
Edit: I have no personal feelings about his tenure, I just think a twitter debate over him over a commercial is out there. But then again, it’s twitter.

    That false.

It's right winger that push the narrative that if it's was publish in the USA it's will be a non-convential family (aka homo-parental) and pretend that """lefist""" hate this commercial, even tough they are the only who talk about it.

Once again proving that the greatest adversary of right wing is their imagination.

Safior is agreeing with you, Dank. The initial Western response was just to make Shinzo Abe memes like everyone else here did at the start, and then a bunch of right-wingers were complaining about how you couldn't have commercials like this in America (which is wrong) and then made up users who were supposedly complaining about the commercial and arguing that it is in fact valid and tradpilled (very likely misinterpreting the Abe memes as critique). So they are basically agreeing with you saying that XTwitter people are having their usual insane reactions, they're just poorly elaborating on it.

I thought Shinzo Abe became more hated in Japan, a couple months after his assassination due to the public finding out his ties and support for a religious cult that was undermining national affairs in support of their own.

The video about it is here and there were multiple articles you can find too.

You can't tell someone they said something false, and then claim to be agreeing with them, that's not how words work. Safior was very clearly claiming that no one was actually complaining about it, it was just a problem made up by Right Wingers. And there were people that complained about the commercial, it's not made up just because you want to believe it is.

"Singular They" has been a thing for centuries, "they" is not exclusively plural and never has been. If you grew up speaking English, you have without fail referred to a singular individual with "they" at least once in your life, because that's what you do when you don't know the sex of the person you're referring to. If you didn't grow up speaking it, then don't start telling other people they're using it wrong.

If there were, none appeared on my feed. How I described it is how all of this manifested on my feed, and most folks I've talked to about it corroborated my experience. So either no one complained, or so few people complained that it makes the right-wing response even more absurd, because they're overinflating the complaints.

Having heard expats (like Satsujin, a french true crime youtuber who lived over 20 years in Japan) over there about Abe, he is not as hated as western liberals make it to be. The general sentiment of the Japanese youth toward politics is just apathy. Like, whatever vote they cast will ALWAYS be outnumbered by the boomers or their own parents defaulting to the Liberal Democrats party.

Leaving Abe aside, it is generally agreed that Japanese need to change a lot in their work environment and mentality to make it attractive and hopeful to start a family and have children. By mentality, I mean to start take it easy and stop feeling guilty from leaving the workplace when the clock hit the end of the shift. And shit like that.

People like to meme about how abe kept pushing for people to have kids and while he did do that it was mostly lip service since he didn't address the main reason for not having kids which was that having kids is expensive and time consuming. Abe didn't try to make things easier for prospective parents and completely ignored the work culture situation which meant people had no time to try be parents in the first place.

"Promoting minority murder" "Nazi dog whistle" "White supremacy propaganda" I saw a lot of these takes on the commercial before the "right wing" people began whining so there is no need to gaslight about a conspiratorial narrative. People need to touch grass, there is egg on everyone's face for getting worked up over a fucking mcdonalds commercial. The commercial makes me feel happy so I'm gonna move on and probably still not eat mcdonalds.

People are so miserable that they are repulsed and confused by the portrayal of a normal family and something that supports it, of which has been normal for thousands of years and will continue to be, yet corrupted people who can't reflect insist on denying everything good.

I hope Japan continues to thrive in this way and denies the dark cloud (literally) that wishes to infiltrate every nook and cranny of what's left that is good, and that they don't experience the same inevitable fate the states are heading into. I wish that they raise their borders even higher, and deny these mongrel idiots who want to run away to it just so they, who cant acknowledge everything Godly and good, can tear it apart.
