They are M1911's, so yeah, i guess you could say colts although these days everyone and their dogs make them.
The front weights are usually competition attachments, and quite impractical in a dynamic combat environment. At the obvious cost of weight they reduce felt recoil, which in a competition environment can be beneficial. (technically also in combat, but generally you are already carrying a ton of equipment)

Atually they're .45 caliber rounds (~11.5mm), and have a lot more stopping power. Not as much as a Heavy Machine Gun, but still better than a 9mm.
