日本海軍の水上偵察機。
日本の艦隊の殆ど全ての艦船に搭載され、艦隊の目として重宝されました。
米軍の勢力拡大に伴いフローター故の速度不足で十分な成果を上げることが困難になりましたが、日本では艦上偵察機が充実していなかった所為もあり、終戦まで使われ続けました。
爆弾倉も装備していた為、偵察以外にも船団の護衛や対潜哨戒などで利用され、水上機特有の大洋での取りまわしの良さを活かして様々な局面に顔を出し、充分な戦力としては及ばずながら頑張りました。

Artist's commentary:

Aichi E13A 'Type Zero Reconnaissance Seaplane' was a reconnaissance seaplane of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
It was very highly thought of as the "eye of the naval fleet" and was loaded onto almost all the Japanese naval fleet vessels.
Due to the increase in strength of the US forces, with its lack of speed it was difficult for the floatplane to achieve satisfactory results, but it was used up until the end of the war, partly because Japanese carrier-based reconnaissance planes were not particularly accomplished.
Because it was equipped with a bomb bay, it was used for missions other than reconnaissance, such as convoy escort and antisubmarine patrol, and played a part in various situations in which it could capitalize on the ease of use in the ocean that is characteristic of seaplanes. So, although it was not able to show adequate war potential, it worked hard.
