... looking through this... it appear that Yukari found Reimu... who ended up being "evil" in that she was merciless in her actions, so Yukari repeatedly raped her into a comatose state. Ran did not like this, and decided to kill Reimu to end her suffering. Granted this is pre-translation... but it's still very sad from what I see from the images.

...is that true?...if that true, then this is actualy much more deppresing than I initially thought. But for more clarification...Can anyone pleeeease tell me at least the summary of whats happening here? /i've been reading(watching the pictures actually) this too many times and I just have to know whats happening here.

I think its more of a yandere Ran as Yukari has moved from her to Reimu. It could also be that the affair with Reimu is slowly draining Yukari as Ran mentioned something about her sleeping more frequently.

mmmh, but that doesnt explain Reimu's rather blank face on page 22 though, and Reimus "relieved" face when Ran sliced her throat.

I was wondering if Reimu knew that Ran was jealous and had already resigned herself to something happening. Or relief at no longer being guilty of a fallen shrine maiden, or it could be relief about the not draining Yukari anymore. Final guess is when someone is on the brink of death they say there is a moment of enlightenment after the fear or disbelief passes.

That's sort of the beauty of a wordless story that's just pictures, everyone sees it differently. Now whether or not either of us are right we shall see if/when this gets translated.

This reminds me of the Samurai X OVAs. It's so different, and much darker. I couldn't even understand half of what was being said, but that's probably because I was kinda trying to rush through. Man...

I thank you wholeheartedly to the translator. Now that I understand the story, I feel that Ran's motive isnt "deep" enough..in the end its all about jealousy isnt it?

    Its a good story nonetheless~

I didn't get yandere vibes from Ran. I got the feeling she was intensely jealous of Reimu but there also seems to be an element, however small and delusional it may be, that its for Reimu's good, since to my knowledge Miko's are required to be virgins, at least traditionally, and that Yukari seems to be not sleeping enough/obsessed with Reimu.

Part of it too is that Yukari seems to be destroying Reimu, at least that is what I Got, for her own amusement and perhaps Ran was jealous of the attention Reimu got or, more idealistically, killed Reimu before things got worse for her.

At either rate she seems too aware of herself to be yandere since shes aware that she will be killed by Yukari, who already frowns on any disobedience, and is resigned to her fate.

So the moral of the story is that Yuri kills.

Not only Reimu but also Yukari was suffering from this relationship. Yukari's power slowly turned Reimu into a youkai, while Reimu's Hakurei power was slowly poisoning Yukari. Yukari would end up dead and Reimu would become far too powerful for the sages to control. And there's of course Ran being jealous about Reimu getting all of Yukari's attention now.

The moral is more 'youkai x human is bad'.

Yandere Ran doesn't do it for me. I found it rather... what.

I think it's more of a character study in how the mind draws upon a multitude of rationalizations (duty, logical arguments etc.) when deciding to act on a base impulse. Ran noticed this in the end and willingly accepted her fate to assauge her guilt for acting on her impulses, not for her actions (which might very well be "justified")

Taking action was justified, killing Reimu, except as a last resort, was not. Rather than being driven mad by her emotions, she let them get the best of her, being fully aware that what she did was wrong. I'm not getting the yandere vibe people keep talking about here.

This may be more clear in the Japanese, but is Reimu actually turning into a youkai or was that scene referencing the isolation she was experiencing? It's not like a solitary miko who is surrounded by youkai wouldn't have to physically change for rumors to start circulating. She's feared and despised either way, so it doesn't really affect the story, this is just me trying to read between the lines.

You're missing the point here, Reimu was turning into a youkai because being to close to the overwhelming power of yukari, and yukari was slowly loosing her powers, weakening and dying for being to close to the "hakurei power" (ie, the power used to exterminate youkais). While its true that ran acted on her emotions, she did what she had to do to protect her master and in the end willingly accepted the consequences of her actions
