Gonna leave a comment here because people feel like removing the tags here for fun: the artist has confirmed that the ''guy'', who is out of frame, is Seth.

He/she literally said after that "but yeah its up to intepretation" so take a guess

Site policy is "Tag what you see, not what you know." There is nothing in the art itself that indicates who the man in.

TWYS is not a strict rule. If the artist says it's Seth, then we tag Seth.

The artist's comment on it didn't feel very final, though. It read more like, "Who else would it even be?" to me than explicitly identifying it as Seth. Someone else can decide if that's good enough.

I think the issue is the artists also responded on the same post “it’s up to interpretation” and even on the Pixiv mirror he didn’t tag Seth at all.

So it seems like the actual artist piece is being vague on who it is. Or else the artist would’ve drawn some obvious notification that it is Seth such as his tail or even pubic hair color.

So at least for me, the “up to interpretation” comment, the lack of any visual cues that it is Seth, and the lack of Seth tags on the Pixiv mirror makes me feel like the tag should be removed.

ETA: Some of this is dumb. Striked out the dumb parts, left for posterity.

Regardless of if they said "interpretation", the setting is insanely and abundantly clear to be Seth. Despite that, people are taking the artist's comment of "interpretation" or Pixiv tags as a hard rule and some of you are having your own little tag war based on your own personal interpretations, and that shit's getting annoying whenever it picks up on my changed events. Enough that some of you felt the need to create an account just to mess with the post's tags.

On the other hand, sure, there's no identifying characteristic if you pretend there's zero comments from the artist.

In any case, figure out whether Seth should be tagged here or not, and make that shit final. I undid the changes only twice thinking that it may have been vandalism and based on some questions/advice/conversations I had about tagging this post but so far most of you seem to be removing it based on your own whims so I'm not dealing with it any further personally.

I feel like when it comes to porn whenever the statement “the setting makes it abundantly clear” isn’t a great one to make?

Like in the actual game, Seth is a golden boy who follows the rules to the letter. He wouldn’t say overnight if it wasn’t his shift and if it was the weekend he would be at his parent’s place. So like if it is the setting….it also 100% cannot be Seth.

But obviously this is porn. Most porn artists don’t adhere to the setting 100%. So the only words that we can use concretely are tags used to search for the images on sites, words of the author, and what we can visually see.

So if we actually discussing this:

Tags. The author puts tags on pixiv to allow for people to find their art. It is how people find the art. A person looking for art with both Jane and Seth wouldn’t be able to find the pixiv mirror because Seth isn’t tagged by the artist. This I think is pretty good evidence because if the artist did see this as Seth there wouldn’t be any reason to not put his tag. Especially when in Pixiv tags set by the artist cannot be altered.

Now what about the word of the artist? Well he both said “who else could this be” and “it’s up to interpretation.” Both of these go in opposite directions while also being noncommittal to Seth. After all the player character does have access to the pubsec office. But being so noncommittal, I don’t think these statements push the confirmation either way.

What about visuals. This is pretty straightforward in that we don’t see any signs of Seth’s hair or even his tail. And Seth has a huge fluffy tail. So this is pretty much against it being Seth. In Unfairr’s other posts he will almost always draw Aether’s or Caelus’s hair on the NPC. With Aether even getting a unique appearance compared to Caelus. So obviously the artist could put in something to make it clear who it is. They just chose not to. And it’s not like the artist can’t draw tails or ears. He drew Gorou and tagged him in one of his earlier Yae pics.

So unless someone has a good rebuttal.

It’s 2 against, 1 neutral, 0 for the confirmation. And that is using concrete evidence such as the actual picture, the artist’s words, and difference in tagging between similiar works by the artist.

I was talking about all parties present and the artist's words more than game details. Danbooru users should never be expected to understand a game to upload images (e.g. forum #295942). In any case, that's my own opinion; I did not initially add Seth, I only undid it twice but as I can see a point from both sides I'm leaving it out in the open and no longer changing the tags. The tag war has to stop though and you all should figure out in finality whether or not he should be tagged.

I wish I cared enough about "making a good statement". Come up with the tag's presence or lack thereof in accordance with site policy/the image details, that's as far as I care about the Seth debate. Seth aside though, I do care about the other times this post set's been vandalised.

    One thing:

This is a dumb argument that doesn't hold. Many images on Pixiv are tagged improperly, need to fit with the album tag limit or have multiple tags for one person. We also have certain policies regarding tags (including metatags) that also mention just because it's one way on Pixiv, doesn't mean it's the same on Danbooru. Pixiv tags can never be used as an authoritative trait for an image's tagging. I can see where you're coming from otherwise.

If we talking about all people present at the problem we are going to be talking about opinions and feelings unfortunately.

And I do agree on average pixiv tags are mistagged but you can check to see which tags the artist chose. That is the key aspect that I wanted to be focused on. Those tags cannot be changed and it comes at directly from artist. They are as much “words from god” as any comment on twitter. So I wouldn’t say tags picked by the author aren’t at least somewhat valuable. That would be the equivalent of saying a post tagged on twitter with #shipname is not explicitly the ship.

While it shouldn’t be the only guide it is still an important clue to what the artist intended.

Oh a slight edit I wanted to add but if a rule of Danbooru for tags is to ignore in game elements…then how would someone unfamiliar with the game know Seth is a part of Pubsec? Because if I was unfamiliar with the game, the statement “who else could it be” would leave me confused.

Yes and I'm saying that doesn't matter at all, it never has. If you feel Seth does not belong, focus your points on what the image shows so you can prevent other people from readding it. I don't care how they tagged their Pixiv album. That whole statement is completely wrong and stupid.

I mean if going just off the image it’s pretty cut and dry that it’s ambiguous.

    No cat ears

    No tail

    No white pubic hair

Not even any pubsec gear on the guy.

So it really isn’t a question then.

Ok, so let's all agree to keep Seth off the post tags then. That is our resolution. I find it easier not to have a chartag in anyway.

Just an update that I've tabled this to a forum discussion because this resolution still clearly made people unhappy and it's still getting tag warred not just on the character tagging but on other elements of the image including ones that are blatant: forum #308023

Enough vandalism on this post. I don't want to see a new and stupid way to edit this post set every week.

If you played Jane's trust events you would know that she is interested in Proxy. In that case it should be Wise.

That's a trust event, that's to be expected - that's per design. Anyway, I hope we're not starting this up again, a choice has been made based on more than enough.
