Are the gameplay questions worthy of the "gameplay mechanics" pool?

    I don't think so...

BUT! He is using a escape button, which is an item ingame, so maybe.

I didn't know there was an actual Eject Button item, so I found this hilarious on the second read through.

The "Indian elephant" thing was a reference to some of the Pokédex entries for Raichu and Gastly. Which for some reason mention Indian elephants despite the Pokémon world having no animals.

I remember in the very first season when the ship sunk Ash looked outside of the window and he saw real fishes, however that may only happen in Kanto...

There were also some fish in the tank at the Water gym back in season 1 in one background shot.

    Kanto is freaking weird.

Tecnically, there ARE regular animals in the pokeworld, but they are rare.

One I found funny (in the TV show) was an episode where the gang was at a Miltank farm and much was made of how much better Miltank milk tasted. My thought was, "In the pokeworld, isn't ALL the milk Miltank milk?"

every company involved with pokemon seems to be conflicted on whether to have real animals or not

i think game freak originally wanted pokemon to replace animals wholesale. idk red/green pokedex entries so idk if the indian elephant reference (actually a reference to an old documentary) was in there originally, but if it was it could easily have been turned into a real pokemon

    i mean

    musharna's kinda like an elephant

    i guess

There's a page on the topic on the wiki...

But basically, keep in mind, that without other life forms besides humans, there would literally be nothing to eat but pokemon. (Even though there are plant pokemon, there are clearly non-pokemon plants, after all...) And while there are some pokemon that are fine with having parts of them eaten (in S&M, you can have roserade tea, for example, or slowpoke tails) but even in the games, there are things like fish sticks or sushi for sale in the Thrifty Megamart... and they're presumably not ALL magikarp.

It seems to be a necessity that there are non-pokemon living creatures just to have a food chain that doesn't involve anyone's favorite pokemon being the at the bottom of said food chain, but at the same time, they want to depreciate the importance of such creatures as much as possible. (To the point they only appear in explaining what everyone is eating...)
