I think Digimon are such fun little monsters and wanted to celebrate them a little bit by making this fanart of all the evolutions you can get from the original v-pet. Loved making this <3
My goal was to interpret the dot-sprites from the v-pets mixed with the classic designs we know, which mostly resulted in the designs being kinda short and round. But I'm super happy with had so much fun drawing it. I plan on doing a Version 2 egg with the Gabumon/Elecmon line of v-pet evolutions. ^^
because this is on my mind, i wanted to mention that I always found the comparison to Pokémon always a bit strange. I see where the comparison comes from since there's both monsters and stuff, but I was a tamagotchi fan too when I was a kid and Digimon was always just an alternative version of Tamagotchi, and I never found that Tamagotchi's were similar to Pokémon. I love Pokémon and Digimon, but always thought the comparison was like comparing apples to oranges, both fruit but they're so different deep down.
