At first, I figured we'd manage with what we had, but as expected, managing the charging of the battery was complicated, so I ended up buying this.
We were so close to running out of power that one mistake, such as forgetting to charge the battery at the hotel, was enough to cause a shortage. It seems to consume a lot of power in the summer, when it's hot in the car. During Meikasai, when the weather was beautiful, it didn't even have enough power to last 30 minutes.
If I'd connected it straight to the car battery, then worst case, it'd stop working, so I was too scared to try it. (^^;)
