コヨーテは悪戯好きで、ある日太陽から大事な煙草を
盗んでいった。

太陽はそりゃもうお怒りで、
我慢ならぬとばかりにコヨーテを追いかけた。
コヨーテは悪戯好きでも弱いので、仕方ないから
東から西へと逃げて行く。

落とした煙草が芽吹き、花を咲かせて実を熟させた
ところで太陽は追いかけるのを諦めた。

コヨーテは人間に煙草をやろうとはしなかったが、
嫁をやると言われてようやく煙草を分け与えた。
まあ、その嫁は少年で騙されたと知ったコヨーテは
悲嘆に暮れたが、我々はこうして煙草を吸えるように
なったのさ！

Coyote loves pranks, and one day he stole the Sun's tobacco.

The Sun got mad, and chased after him in a fury.
Coyote loves pranks but he is weak, so he had no choice but to run from east to west.

He dropped the tobacco as he ran, and by the time that it bloomed and had grown seeds, the Sun gave up and stopped.

Coyote didn't want to give tobacco to humans, but when they offered him a bride, he decided to shared it.
Well, when he found out that bride was actually a young boy, he broke down in tears, but that's how we started smoking tobacco!
