As Mario returns to his hometown of New Donk City, he finds it in chaos - Bowser's minions have drained the city's electricity! Amidst the crisis, he reunites with Pauline, his ex-girlfriend and now the city's mayor. After restoring power to the city, Pauline honors Mario's heroism with a grand festival. As they relive old memories, the spark between them reignites, and Mario is overcome with a mix of nostalgia and longing. Pauline, too, feels the familiar flutter in her chest; a reminder of the love they once shared. As the festival's revelry swirls around them, Mario and Pauline slip away to surrender to their passion in the grandeur of New Donk City Hall's auditorium. With their love rekindled, Mario promises to return to New Donk City once his Odyssey is complete.
