Minamitsu Murasa became a spirit after she drowned. She later became a youkai after spending each day sinking the ships that sailed near her. She currently serves as the captain of the Palanquin Ship.

It is said that motsunabe originated from the vitalizing beef or pork offal hot pots that coal miners ate after work. This formed the basis of the now famous Hakata motsunabe recipe, which includes beef or pork offal, garlic chives, cabbage, soy sauce-flavored soup, and champon noodles. The dish boomed in popularity because it was cheap, filling, nourishing, and healthy. It even became known as the “doctor-free hot pot.”

Minamitsu heard rumors that lots of people were getting sick now that the season had changed to summer.
