I know Umamusume are more supernatural than realistic if that makes sense, but it would be cool if other Uma genus' existed like how there were more than just Homo sapiens at one point. Just a thought I have from time to time, the world history of Uma universe.
It's a silly thing to point out since the comic itself is silly, but my tism insists.
Thoroughbreds are also really big horses, and aren't really that much smaller than draft horses. Given most, if not all, the horses in Umamusume are thoroughbreds, it's unlikely that 'draft' umamusume would be so egregiously tall in comparison. Even putting them in the 6"/180cm range would be remarkably tall anyway, especially for Japanese women.
8 feet tall is basically giantess territory... not that there's anything wrong with wanting that, of course, it's just out of place for a world in which the Umamusume otherwise have very human proportions.

Thoroughbreds weigh around 450~550kg and have a 'height' (hoof to withers/shoulder blades) of around 160~170cm.
Draft horses used in ban'ei racing weigh around 800~1200kg and have a 'height' of around 170~180cm. We aren't talking about compact draft horses like Clydesdales (700~1000kg) here. These are crossbreeds of some of the largest draft horse breeds (Percheron/Breton/Brabant), and absolutely dwarf regular thoroughbreds.
Granted, most of the size difference is in dimensions other than height... so the proportional equivalent would probably be someone built like a medieval fantasy dwarf but 5.5~6 feet tall. Or a female draph built like a male draph. Anything beyond 8 feet is, yeah, going overboard.
