There's actually a rather tragic theory/backstory to why Gold Ship freaks out at the sound of a siren: Gold Ship was a 2YO being trained at a training facility in Fukushima when 3.11 hit said facility, necessitating the horse to be sent back to Hokkaido despite having arrived only a week earlier and possibly traumatizing the poor colt with all the sirens at the time.

I'm not sure how much of a factor it was given how he's STILL a Stay Gold progeny no matter what, but I suspect there's some elements of that given how the people who trained him said "the horse van did all the training, not us" on more than one interview because of how he was shipped around in 2011.
