こむぎの父であり、いろはの夫。

穏やかで知的な性格を持ち、現在は動物研究者として活動している。
かつての愛兎・大福、そして妻となったいろはとの縁をきっかけに、動物の生態や行動学を学ぶようになった。
在宅勤務を中心に研究や執筆を行い、学界や動物保護団体に貢献している。
体力はあまり強くないものの、集中力と深い思慮によって評価されており、本人は自覚していないが「動物と人との架け橋となる研究者」として学界で評判を得ている。

さらに、こむぎの正体——6年前に息を引き取ったいろはの愛犬の生まれ変わり——を知ってはいるが、その事実を口にしてしまえばいろはを混乱させてしまうと考え、あえて発言せず胸の内に秘めている。

He mainly works from home, conducting research and writing, and contributing to academia and animal protection organizations.
Although he lacks physical strength, he is highly regarded for his focus and deep thoughtfulness. Although he is not aware of it himself, he has earned a reputation in the academic community as a "researcher who serves as a bridge between animals and people."

Furthermore, he knows Komugi's true identity—the reincarnation of Iroha's beloved dog, who passed away six years ago—but he keeps this a secret, fearing that revealing it would confuse Iroha.
