I'm not exactly sure why she's so hated in the first place? All because she can read minds and hearts?
I'm sure we all have something to hide, things we're not proud of. But when someone accepts that side of us, doesn't that make us closer to them?
I'd think I'd be glad to have someone like Satori as my friend, provided she accepted me as a friend as well. Having a friend like her would probably do wonders for me.
...Or maybe I'm missing something else about her that makes her so hated.

Perhaps it's rather that they are avoiding her because they don't want their secrets exposed (regardless of what her reaction might be when they are).

watch Twilight Zone or anything else that covers involuntary mind reading like that. generally it is very off-putting to other people, and makes the reader rather paranoid and tends to shut themselevs in

Also, just because Satori can hear everybody's thoughts doesn't necessarily mean she accepts them for it. Likewise, I'm sure not everyone is OK with having their minds read just because the reader accepts them for it. People value their privacy, after all.

its been a while since I seen it so I dont remember the title, but if it helps in searching it started off with the guy flipping a quarter into a news stand when buying a newspaper
