The way that Hijiri is important to Shou and Bishamonten (the real thing) is important to Nazrin seems similar on the surface, but really isn't. They both think the other one knows this, but they don't, which may well cause confusion in the future as well. It's my headcanon, not just in this book but in general, that Nazrin doesn't have a direct line to Bishamonten. He's a busy man, after all... it's also a good way to strong-arm people.
