They didn't come in standard until fairly recently, I think? Depending on model and manufacturer, I suppose... But if they had an old one, chances were they didn't have one.

Same here. I only ever see restuarant and shopping fridges have them. No home fridge i have ever seen in any house i've been to has had one.

Yeah, newer, more high-end models have one that beeps if the door is open for too long. We have one at my house.

Those beeps are so soft it does squat when people are actually cooking in the kitchen.

We’ve had the same fridge since like 1992 and it’s always had a door alarm, adjustable as well to different times. Also has a ‘milk door’ that newer models haven’t had for like 15 years now, so we’re pretty reluctant to replace it.
