Also, just like with Shuten I feel like Asanagi doesn't really knows Kashima's character and is projecting the S on her, not like I mind though.

The vampire-like fangs of hers are not reassuring.

Most doujin artists just love to project whatever they desire into the characters they draw, regardless of canon portrayal. That's the whole point of doujinshi, really.

She is a "training cruiser". Take of that what you will. :)

Seems like how Asanagi works for me in just about every case; the situation on the preview or cover image: juicy as all hell. Fear over what is contained past it: very high.

Thats true; but, to an extent, doesn't that set the work/doujin up for disappointment?

If you published a doujin with Reimu from Touhou on the cover, but the contents of the book was entirely about an original character that simply looked like Reimu from Touhou, wouldn't it be fair for readers to automatically write the doujin off as misleading?

God, I hope not! When asanagi does something a bit more vanilla, it's always great.

Not really, as an example, there's that author who parodies everything with Fist of the North Star, which has exactly just another character who looks somewhat like Reimu among others. There's doujin out there for every possible characterization of every character in Touhou.

Also, did Asanagi ever draw in character? All his females were, you know, really broken, in more ways than one.
