This picture is such a yuri bait lol. When the fact is that Abe is such a tsundere mom (sounds bad but it's not like that).
No not really, you just think that because people like you don't understand two men and two women can have a symbiotic relationship. In other words, people like you don't understand two men and two women can just be friends.

Chill, man. I know the context and I too hope of more non-eros love in the anime world. IMHO Dorothy is a great representation in the same series.
But I also know when something can be easily misinterpreted at the first glance because of contemporary culture.

Have you seen the Hard mode bonus scene? Abe spends five years just finding where Cindy fell. Abe then spends decades scrounging up spare parts to try and fix Cindy, who remains unresponsive. She realizes her mind is starting to go when she starts losing her technical expertise. At one point she is captured, taken apart and put back together carelessly, and she starts wearing a helmet because "Cinderella should only see beautiful things". She starts using parts of herself to repair Cindy. She has a dream of Siren, Hansel and Gretel, and can no longer remember who they were, but she remains wholely devoted to Cinderella. The coffin is an improvised repair sarcophagus, BTW.
While not a romantic relationship by any means, that level of devotion goes well beyond just friendship.
