Good question. The Minecraft Wiki calls him Steve without a question mark, so I don't know why we added one.

This may have been true when this comment was made six years ago, but Notch is no longer associated with Minecraft, and as such, his Twitter doesn't really count as a verifiable source anymore. The game itself just calls him Steve.
