Why are they sitting in a forest in swimsuits?

Why wouldn't they?

Shouldn't they be returning to base? And the one on the left is totally sitting on empty air.

it's the end of the table =P look at the right, it sticks out a bit past the leg

From looking at thr right, you can tell that the table is rounded at the edges, and she's either sitting on the extreme left side of the table, or in the air. Either way, she's in for an awkward landing...
