Funny, I was kind of thinking the opposite. Not that they're ugly, really, it's just that...well, I usually prefer women thin, but something's wrong when the ribs are that prominent.
They have nice bodies, but I do agree that a bit of make up would go a long way. I'm not even being a dick, just from a female's perspective a little bit of mascara, eyeshadow, and blush can make a noticeable difference.
They look fine, considering the characters their cosplaying are just as skinny, they're fine. It's next to nearly impossible to have anime proportions without surgery...or dragon balls.
